North West Norfolk campaigner William Summers has backed Lib Dem plans to cut youth unemployment.
The measures, announced by party leader Nick Clegg, would ensure young people do not spend more than 90 days on Jobseekers Allowance before they get more training, education, an internship or a place on a work programme.
The plans will see almost £900m invested in more education places, giving students financial support to return to college and creating a paid internship scheme.
Commenting William Summers said:
“We all know of young people who have recently left college or university and have since been struggling to find a job.
“Young people are being hit particularly hard in this recession and must not become the forgotten generation. As things pick up we need to ensure our younger people are given all the opportunities possible to fulfill their potential.
“I fully back the plans announced by Nick Clegg for more training, education and internships, which would be a massive boost to the nearly one million younger people now unemployed.”
More information about the plans for tackling youth unemployment is available on the Liberal Democrats national website.
